Introducing… Smithdon’s new Head Girl and Head Boy
When you ask Taylor and Sam about why they wanted to be the Head Girl and Head Boy at Smithdon High School, they almost answer in unison; they both want to make a difference and help other people.
When you ask Taylor and Sam about why they wanted to be the Head Girl and Head Boy at Smithdon High School, they almost answer in unison; they both want to make a difference and help other people.
They’ve seen the recent changes at the school and are desperate to play their part to make the school even better.
‘Everything about the school seems better’ offers Sam, ‘not only has the school been decorated and refurbished, but the lessons and the resources are much better too.’
Both Taylor and Sam fought off fierce competition to become Head Girl and Boy; they were elected ahead of other Year 10 students after speaking to the whole school in assembly.
‘It was certainly nerve-wracking’ Taylor remembers, ‘but it is something you have to do and it has given me great confidence for the future.’
Taylor and Sam make great role models. They have high expectations of themselves and plan to attend the West Norfolk Academy Trust Sixth Form at Springwood High School once they have completed their GCSEs.
Sam then plans to study film and wants to be a director; his passion for Performing Arts will see a play he has written be performed at the Princess Theatre on 6th July 2018 as part of the Hunstanton Drama Festival.
Taylor’s future is as equally bright. Once she has completed her A Levels in Further Maths, Maths and Science, she plans to complete a nursing degree and specialise in midwifery.
Certainly Taylor and Sam embody the school’s values of Strength, Integrity and Excellence.
