With so many successful results across the ability range, Headteacher Amanda Gibbins was pleased to share the students’ joy as they opened their envelopes.

"Results day is the culmination of all students’ time at Smithdon and is one of my favourite days of the year," she said. "Having the privilege to be a part of the students’ excitement as they prepare to go on to their next steps is just amazing.”

Steve Chapman, Assistant Headteacher Curriculum, added: “Year 11’s approach to the exams this year was outstanding and the students’ results reflect the hard work and focussed determination shown throughout their studies.”

Smithdon High School is proud to champion students of all abilities as part of its culture and this year has seen a number of our students who found school difficult, persevere and make some great progress across not just the core subjects but in all areas, ensuring they have a strong foundation for their next steps.

Some excellent individual successes were celebrated by Kenzie Kellingray, Amy Dade and Summer Doughty-Bingham. Meanwhile, Smithdon's Head Students, Izzy Mears and Isaac Minns, were in the top six of Smithdon's best results. 

Isaac’s results included two 8s and one 9 in History with Izzy’s including three 6s, 2 8s and a Level 2 Distinction*. 

“I was a bit nervous coming in to collect my results today but I felt that I was going to be alright,” said Isaac, who hopes to take up an apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering. “I’m very happy with my results.”

Mia Jackson achieved Smithdon's best results, including five 8s and a Level 2 Distinction in Health and Social Care, followed by Mia Rodrigues whose achievements included two 8s, a 9 in RE and a Level 2 Distinction in Health and Social Care.

“I did better than expected,” said Mia Jackson, who is off to Springwood Sixth Form to study Biology, Psychology and Maths at A-Level.

Mia Rodrigues is still deciding what she wants to do next. “Smithdon has been a great space for me to grow as a person,” she said. “The teachers adapted their teaching to how you learn best.”

Andy Gee, chair of the school governors, said he couldn’t be prouder of the successes of students at Smithdon, a member of the West Norfolk Academies Trust.

“This has been another fantastic year for Smithdon and Year 11. To see so many happy faces is always a pleasure,” he said.
